Remembering Our Dear Friend ...

Bob McClanahan – Co-Founder and long time Renaissance Runner has died.

Flora (his wife) indicated that he died peacefully in his sleep Saturday night (7/16/05) between 10:00PM and 5:00AM.

Bob was a co-founder of the Renaissance Runners. He helped shape the club with his dedication. He was the only treasuer the club has had.  I truly believe that Bob has been an angel for many individuals and groups. He was an angel for the Renaissance Runners, Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church, and the American Cancer Society. He helped fellow Renaissance Runner Ike when he was going through his terminal illness; Bob was always there to make life easier for Ike. He was right by the side of the late George Wilkes (former Renaissance Runner president) as he tried to nurse George back to health. He was in the process of helping his dearest friend Joe Patton through his current illness.  Joe was waiting for Bob to come walk with him the morning Bob died.

He was a long time runner and health nut like all of us, as he never let his weight get out of hand. His best marathon time was ran at the Long Beach Marathon in the 1980s. He was there to console the Old Soldier’s family and more recently the Dr. John McReynold’s family during their sorrow.

He will be missed in more ways than one.
